Long Way Home is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization saving animals regardless of age, health, or species. Some may be healthy pets in an over-capacity shelter, some may need serious veterinary care or rehabilitation, others may be animals used for medical experiments or sold for meat slaughter overseas.
Our foster-based, volunteer, rescue runs exclusively on public donations, and 100% of donations are tax deductible and used for animal care and to ensure we are able to save as many animals as possible.
(Please note: LWHA works exclusively with animals shelters and partner rescue groups domestically and abroad, but unfortunately, does not accept owner surrenders or strays.)
Meet Our Team
While we are a huge foster network, read about just a small part of our rescue organization. Our volunteer staff is responsible for new animal intake, foster coordination, fundraising, marketing, finding forever homes and much more!
Founder & Director
The heart and engine of our mission--April does all our marketing, fundraising, accounting, new intake, adoptions, and day-to-day operations.
Kellye helps with all business aspects, but her passion lies in helping transport adopted animals all across the country to their new homes.
A jack of all trades, Debbie's primary focus is anything foster related from foster management, to inventory, and records management.
From her home state of NC, Lauren designs much of our merchandise, helps with auctions, and manages our web store. She has 3 senior rescues of her own who have beds right on her work desk.
Suzy is a foster, donor, website administrator, developer, blogger, and volunteer and so much more, and we are glad to have her on board!
Mama Nutmeg represents the best of what we do! A senior chi rescued from a hoarder, she loves to go to events and meet her fans!
